Use Manufacturing Facility as Trigger Condition

In version 8.7.1, a new setting exists in the Triggers window, Use Manufacturing Facility as Trigger Condition. This feature benefits multi-facility customers who automatically recost jobs when sent to production. For example, assume a multi-facility customer has two cost categories at each facility, "Estimate" and "Actual." The Estimate cost category is used to create a competitive quote when bidding on projects. Then, when the job is sent to production, the actual cost category is used. This cost category contains the actual lumber costs for the current period. This flow allows customers to track the price of their jobs more accurately. With version 8.7.1, the system looks at the manufacturing facility's actual cost category when the recost is performed.

In version 871, a new setting exists in the Triggers window, Use Manufacturing Facility as Trigger Condition. This feature benefits multi-facility customers who automatically recost jobs when they are sent to production. For example, assume a multi facility customer has two cost categories at each facility, "Estimate" and "Actual." The Estimate cost category is used when bidding projects in order to create a competitive quote. Then, when the job is sent to production, the ACTUAL cost category is used. This cost category contains the actual lumber costs for the current time period. This flow allows customers to more accurately track the price of their jobs. Now, with version 871, the system looks at the manufacturing facility's actual cost category when the recost is performed. To illustrate this feature, create a new project in facility 1. Note that the default cost category is F1 Estimate, which is configured in System Administration > Facility > Cost and Price Settings. Now, assume that facility 1 is too busy to produce the job so it is transferred to facility 2. As soon as the job is transferred, it uses the default cost category for facility 2, F2 Estimate. Now, when the project is released to the shop, an automatic recost occurs, and the new cost category is F2 Actual. This recost is based on a trigger in System Administration > Facility > Overview > Triggers. Here, the F2 Recost trigger is configured to use the F2 Actual cost category. And, the new feature in version 871 is the checkbox for "Use Manufacturing Facility as Trigger Condition." With this setting activated, the system uses facility two's actual cost category. To summarize, with version 871, a new checkbox exists in triggers, Use Manufacutring Facility as Trigger Condition. This setting tells the system to use the specified cost category in the manufacturing facility when the trigger is activated.
